Rosie & Sal’s Islington Town Hall wedding was family focused and full of celebration.
We started in a little cocktail bar in Islington for a drink or two to settle the nerves and some last minute checking the pub was all set up and ready to go before we headed to Islington Town Hall for the ceremony. Sal waited patiently and nervously for Rosie to arrive. I love Islington Town Hall weddings. The big chamber room is full of light and the layout gives everyone a great view of the couple getting married, which let’s be honest is the reason everyone is there. Rosie and Sal’s kids played an important part in their ceremony and it was obvious that it wasn’t just about these two marrying each other, it was a family celebration.
Confetti was thrown, family photos were taken and everyone hopped onto a traditional red London bus and we headed off for their portraits in the little streets around the Londesborough. I really love shooting around that area, lot’s of little doorways and backdrops, plus it’s quiet, perfect for a few portraits.
I’ve shot at the Londesborough a few times and every time it’s a great fun. The atmosphere in a pub always allows people to relax and once the drinks start flowing I know it’s going to be a great party. There were tears and laughter during their speeches, heartfelt words shared amongst friends. An performance of a poem got everyone laughing and as always the best men did their job in embarrassing the groom.
When it came to the first dance for the first minute or so, there was no one else in the room and as the song came to a close, the couple were bundled by their kids and they finished their dance with their kids in their arms. I have to say it was a moment that brought a tear to my eye.
