When I met Ashley & Nick, we sat drinking wine, talking about the joy of getting married and bringing together friends & family for a celebration. They described wanting a a warm, cosy winter wedding & picked The Electrician’s Shop at Trinity Buoy Wharf for their celebration.
What I loved about these two was that they were happy to throw tradition out of the window. So many guests had travelled from all over the world to celebrate with them so instead of doing their couples portraits after the ceremony, they decided on a first look which meant they could spend the entire drinks reception chatting to guests.
I love first looks. You get all the excitement, the nerves & all the emotions without 90 people looking at you, waiting for a reactions. It’s an opportunity to have some time to yourselves, to chat about your mornings & to get rid of those nerves, before the big ‘I DO’. There is a rush of happy tears, all the smiles & they are always a joy to witness & photograph. We spent a good 30 mins wandering around Trinity Buoy Wharf during their first look before we headed back down to The Electrician’s Shop for their ceremony…but more on that soon.
Their first look also allowed us to make the most of the daylight as well which is alwasy something to consider when planning a winter wedding.
