Moments – Second Photographer

Kids at weddings can help create some really amazing memories.

This little girl followed El around until we got to their wedding venue, she didn’t want to leave her side until she spotted the disposable cameras Darren and El had left out for their guests to use. For a little while she followed me around watching what I was doing and probably getting a few tips. When it came to doing their family photos, she came along with me, disposable camera in hand.

Every time I took a photo, I would step aside and let her take a shot. It was amazing to watch and when El and her bridesmaids realised what was happening, they would pose for her. I couldn’t not take this photo. To me this was a moment that needed to be captured and a part of the story that needed to be told.

I have no idea if her photos came out but I really hope they did.

I hope the couple look at this image and laugh and remember all the fun little moments with this little one. I hope that when she sees this image, she remembers the fun she had and I secretly hope that when she looks back in years to come that this is the moment she realised she wanted to be a photographer.

Moments – Getting Ready

Whether it is a London wedding or a destination wedding, there are certain moments which are universal. This is one of them.

Once the dress is on and the last details are added, there is this moment of calm.

Helen’s room had been a hive of activity that morning. Her bridesmaids had been in and out the room, helping, one of their best friends who was officiating the ceremony popped in to run through their ceremony and Helen’s mum dropped by to watch Helen get into her dress. Champagne was drunk and then it was time to add the final touches to Helen’s outfit. As she put on her shoes and stood up to smooth out her dress, the room fell quiet and was filled with a sense of calm.

When I look back at this moment, I can remember all of Helen’s nerves falling away, her body relaxing, knowing that all the planning had come together and in a few moments she would get to see her boy.

I love this moment during bridal prep.

Helen & Stephen – Destination Wedding

I’ve just got back from a lovely wedding in Spain (my second adventure in destination wedding photography) and sent these photos to the Helen and Stephen.

Take these two, a little village in Spain, a beautiful villa with a resident cat and a field full of wind turbines and we end up with these sneak peeks.

The adventure that started with no sleep, stupidly early flights was followed by long windy roads with crazy drivers and tiny streets that even the tiniest of cars couldn’t fit down. The weather included extreme heat, rain, gale force winds and fog that made you feel like you were stuck in horror film. The past weekend was a great adventure.

These two are such a great couple and we had such a laugh the day after the wedding on a little mini shoot. There will be more photos from that shoot soon.

One Frame – Sarah & Adam

Sometimes I can’t put my finger on why I love an image, it just has a feeling, captures a moment that makes me smile.

What I will remember most about Sarah and Adam’s day is the laughter. From the moment I stepped into the hotel room to the moment I left, they were surrounded by it.

Fiona & David

I first met Fiona and David one evening in a London pub. We started talking about their wedding but the conversation soon turned to music and books, two of my favourite things. We sat around comparing notes on gigs and our favourite bands, getting to know each other. I have to say it is one of my favourite parts of my job, getting to know each of my couples, connecting with them.

When it came to their wedding day, I was a bundle of nerves but also excitement. I couldn’t wait to see these two get married and dance the night away. A good friend of theirs was the DJ for the night and he provided an amazing soundtrack to the evening. We left their wedding, watching them on the dance floor with all their friends…and there is no better way to end the night!

We love weddings

It’s been a little bit quiet on here, but we have a good reason. We are in the middle of one crazy and amazing wedding season. Every weekend sees us heading off to be a part of another celebration.

So far we have embraced the rain, caught the sun, danced on a boat, had a shot of sambuca as a first toast and eaten a lot of cake. We have fallen in love with all the couples we have met so far and can not wait to meet and celebrate with the rest of our couples.

Sarah & Ben: an engagement

Sarah & Ben are getting married soon and I just had to share their engagement shoot.

On a sunny but chilly Sunday we drove down to Brighton, stopping off for coffee and snacks, to chat weddings and take some pictures. We talked about music and taxidermy, films and books. There was a lot of laughter, a lot of smiles and a lot of love.

We love that we can call these two friends and we are so excited to shoot their wedding in a few weeks. We know a few of the details and trust me when we say it is going to be awesome!
